JAKARTA: Malaysia overcame the odds to down Indonesia 1-0 in a crucial Group A, SEA Games football match at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium here on Thursday.
Malaysia’s hero was Syahrul Azwari Ibrahim, who scored the winner with a low grounder in the 17th minute.
With the win, Malaysia topped Group A on 10 points while Indonesia were second on nine points.
In the semi-finals scheduled for Saturday, Malaysia will take on Group B runner-up Myanmar while Indonesia will square off with Vietnam, who topped Group B.
